City of Bigfork

Special Meeting July 6th, 2004

Except for Motions made by the Council this is not a verbatim record of every statement made during the Council meeting. Discussions have been paraphrased to give general direction and understanding.

Members Present: Mayor Lonnie Kacon, Steve Grover, Jean Lexvold, Amy Tendrup and Bob Zimmer Absent: None Also Present: Mark Maki

The purpose of the special meeting was to discuss the Cedar Street water project.

Mayor Kacon called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.

The Council reviewed a memo from City Engineer Julie Kennedy. The memo stated that, as directed at the June 29th special meeting, Kennedy had obtained two quotes for the installation of a water main on Cedar Street. The quote from Casper Construction was the lower of the two. It was the recommendation of Kennedy to pass a resolution accepting the quote from Casper Construction of $31,985.00.

Zimmer questioned how this project was being paid for. Kacon explained that it would come from the same bond as we are taking out for the sewer project and the bond payments will be covered by assessments to the benefiting properties and from the sale of the city-owned lots.

A motion was made by Zimmer and seconded by Tendrup to pass the following resolution, Motion Carried Unanimously (MCU): RESOLUTION 7-6-2004 ACCEPTING QUOTE WHEREAS, pursuant to requesting quotes for the improvement of the water main extension to serve parcels along Cedar Street (Co. Rd. 225) from Division Avenue to the city properties, quotes were received, opened according to law, and the following quotes were received: Casper Construction $31,985.00 Itasca Utilities $34,690.00 AND WHEREAS, it appears that Casper Construction is the lowest responsible bidder, with a quote of $31,985.00. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BIGFORK, MN: 1. The mayor and clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an Agreement with the lowest responsible bidder for the water main improvement. Adoption of this resolution by the Council shall constitute the Agreement. Adopted by the council this 6th day of July, 2004.

Mayor Kacon adjourned the special meeting at 6:05 p.m.
