Emergency Meeting September 11, 2009
Members Present: Linda Koppelmann, Mayor Roger Logdahl, Mike Stevens, Amy Pifher, and Bob Zimmer Absent: Also Present:
Mayor Logdahl called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to fill the vacant City Clerk/Treasurer position based on the recommendations set forth by the Personnel Committee.
Personnel Committee Recommendations: The Personnel Committee presented recommendations to the Council as follows:
o To hire Michael McKinney as the City Clerk/Treasurer, pending the outcome of a background check and drug and alcohol testing. o To establish Wayne Krews as the first alternate for the position. o To establish Jody Martin as the second alternate for the position.
Pifher asked why the Personnel Committee’s recommendation was not a local resident. Stevens stated that the individual the Committee recommended has a degree in planning and administration and also possessed work experience applicable to this position.
Motion by Pifher to hire Michael McKinney, based on the recommendations of the Personnel Committee, seconded by Stevens, motion carried, with Zimmer abstaining.
Logdahl stated that an agreement exists between Angie Storlie and the City for her assistance in helping the new hire transition into the position. Logdahl stated that he spoke to City Attorney John Licke. Licke informed him that he had not looked at the revised agreement yet and would do so on Monday. Logdahl stated that he would like Licke to review the agreement before the City signed off on anything.
Logdahl stated that the City had attempted to contact Julie Casey for an interview but had not reached her. Logdahl stated that Ms. Casey did contact Angie Storlie and informed her that Ms. Casey would still be available for interview. Logdahl stated that since a hiring recommendation had already been made, the City’s focus should now be on helping Mr. McKinney transition into the position, Logdahl stated that he believes Mr. McKinney will be a good asset to the City
Stevens motioned to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 3:06 p.m.
