Budget Committee Meeting September 1, 2009

Members Present: Roger Logdahl, Bob Zimmer and Angie Storlie Members Absent: none Also Present: Chuck Almhjeld

The Budget Committee meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m.

With numbers as they are now proposed, the general levy would need to increase by 2.33% and total levy increase, including debt service levies, would be 1.51%. Logdahl proposed the following changes: o Decrease in clerk wages due to changing position to part time – increase in professional services for contract work o Increase in elections budget to reflect moving elections back to City Hall instead of mail balloting o Changes to police health insurance budget based on quote from different company o Increase in street maintenance materials budget for more road repair work

These changes resulted in a decrease in the total budget and it was the consensus of the Committee to recommend that the City Council set the preliminary tax levy at the same level as last year. Once the preliminary levy is set, it can be decreased, but not increased.

The budget meeting was adjourned at 6:02 p.m.
