Special Meeting January 29, 2008
Members Present: Mayor Amy Tendrup, Jean Lexvold, Dick Salmi and Linda Koppelmann

Also Present: Public Works Superintendent Chuck Almhjeld, Local 49 Area Business Representative Dan Kingsley, City Personnel Attorney John Licke, Gene Ward
Mayor Tendrup called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Public Works truck and for union negotiations.
Public Works Truck: Public Works Superintendent Chuck Almhjeld presented quotes to the Council on repair of the green truck transmission. The majority of the Council did not feel the vehicle was worth putting money into. Motion by Lexvold, seconded by Koppelmann to advertise for bids on the green truck and plow, minimum bid being $2,000, motion carried unanimously (MCU).
Union Negotiations: A separate bargaining unit was recognized for the City Clerk's office in a motion by Lexvold, seconded by Koppelmann, MCU.
The meeting was closed and reopened at the following times for purposes of negotiation strategies by the Council and caucusing by the union:
Closed at 5:26 p.m. and reopened at 5:48 p.m.
Closed at 5:55 p.m. and reopened at 6:14 p.m.
Closed at 6:29 p.m. and reopened at 6:43 p.m.
The terms that were agreed upon for inclusion in the final draft of the agreements for each bargaining unit are as follows:
1% wage increase each year $200 annual uniform/safety shoe allowance $0.50 per hour wage increase for obtaining required licenses $800 monthly contribution to full-time employee health insurance premiums 100% payout of unused sick time into a health reimbursement account Increase in the base pay of the permanent part-time public works position of $1.50 per hour The date of the contract will remain January 1, 2008 and all provisions will be retroactive to that date.
Kingsley suggested removing the section on discipline since it is essentially what the City already has in its personnel policy. City Personnel Attorney John Licke will prepare final drafts of each contract for review and a final meeting date will be set in the near future.
Mayor Tendrup adjourned the meeting at 6:49 p.m.
